Northern Ireland weather: Long-range forecast for October into November as temperatures dip

Temperatures across Northern Ireland have taken a noticeable dip in recent days, especially when it comes to conditions at night time.

A lot of rain and wind has been in the forecast recently, but it's not all bad as there have been some bright spells from time to time too.

Although the Met Office's long-range forecast for Northern Ireland predicts temperatures to remain or rise above average, night times are set to remain bitterly cold.

From October 10 to October 19, the weather forecaster is predicting that Northern Ireland will experience clearer weather with dry conditions, with more unsettled weather returning towards the end of this period.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Dry conditions are likely to dominate for much of the UK, with only occasional spells of rain likely in the north and west at times.

"Fog will continue to be a feature of the weather with light winds. Temperatures are likely to remain somewhat above normal for the time of year, but with chilly nights at times too.

"A change to more unsettled conditions may get underway by the end of the period."

Looking further into the future, between October 20 and November 3, the Met Office are predicting that conditions will be more unsettled across the UK, with the worst conditions across northwestern areas, such as Northern Ireland.

However, towards the end of this period the weather is set to change again, with colder conditions moving in.

The weather forecaster said: "Turning more widely unsettled across the UK, with wettest and windiest conditions remaining to the north and the northwest.

"Moving forward, wider dry spells are likely across the country, with the risk of overnight fog which will clear by day. Through this period temperatures will remain near or above average.

"There is a chance of a colder settled period becoming established by early November."
