Northern Ireland weather forecasts for temperatures to plummet to MINUS 4

Temperatures are set to plummet to -4C in parts of Northern Ireland tonight.

The Met Office has warned of a 'sharp frost' in some areas, with salting due to take place.

But despite the bitterly cold weather large parts of the country are expected to remain dry.

The Met Office has warned that places across the country will experience a minimum temperature -4C and "a dry night with long clear periods and light winds".

TrafficWatch NI urged road users to "exercise caution" when travelling.

And for Wednesday, Met Office said: "Dry, bright day for many areas with some sunshine."

"Cloudier over southern counties in the afternoon with some rain developing.

"A cold day everywhere with light winds.

"Maximum temperature 5C."
