Northern Ireland weather forecast predicts snow and ice this weekend

The bitterly cold weather is set to continue right across Northern Ireland this weekend - with warnings in place for snow.

Prolonged showers are expected to continue throughout Friday night, with it turning heavier and possibly thundery later.

For tomorrow, the Met Office said: "Sunny intervals and occasional showers, with snow on high ground becoming more frequent along the north coast where westerly gales will develop for a time."

And with maximum temperature 7C, people are advised to wrap up warm.

Looking ahead to next week, the Met Office added: "Further showers on Sunday and Monday with snow on the hills, perhaps lower ground at first. Tuesday mainly dry with sunshine but cold."
