Northern Ireland weather forecast on Monday as temperature to plummet to -3C

We're certainly feeling the cold weather lately, making it harder to get out of bed in the mornings.

And the chilly conditions are set to stay with us for the next few weeks.

On Monday, temperatures have been predicted to fall below -3C in Belfast, according to the Met Office.

"Monday will be dry and sunny for much of the day with light winds," a spokesperson said.

"Although chance of the odd shower during the afternoon, mainly over eastern counties, Maximum temperature 4C.

"The west will stay dry with some clear spells and a sharp frost [this afternoon]. Mostly dry in the east but a few wintry showers possible, with a risk of some ice. Minimum temperature -3C."

And icy patches and freezing temperatures are forecast or the rest of the week.

"Another mostly dry day [on Tuesday] with some sunshine the best of this over Fermanagh. Perhaps still the odd light wintry shower in the north and east. Maximum temperature 4C.

"Dry and sunny on Wednesday. Some overnight rain, clearing to an icy start on Thursday then sunny spells and the odd shower."
