Northern Ireland weather forecast for week ahead as rain looms

There's no doubt about it, we've all been enjoying ourselves this last week with the sun shining.

Temperatures across Northern Ireland soared into the 30s with thousands taking to beaches, parks and holiday homes.

But the Met Office has forecast poorer conditions for this week - with rain on the way which might be welcome news to some.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Any low cloud and mist soon clearing to leave some warm sunshine, on Monday. However cloud increases in the afternoon with outbreaks of, occasionally heavy, showery rain edging east through the evening. Maximum temperatures of 24C.

"The outlook for Tuesday to Thursday shows it to be much cooler and becoming increasingly unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain, these heavy and perhaps thundery at times."

An 'extreme heat' warning was issued for Northern Ireland last week which was in force from Wednesday, July 21 at 8am until midnight on Friday, July 23.
