Northern Ireland weather forecast for the weekend

The Met Office has predicted 'a little bit of everything' in this weekend's weather forecast for Northern Ireland.

The next few days are set to bring us 'showery outbreaks, some warm sunshine and perhaps thundery at times'.

On Friday, the day is set to start off rather cloudy at first with occasional showers.

The Met Office said: "The showers well scattered in the afternoon with some bright or sunny spells, the best of any sunshine expected towards the north coast. Breezy. Maximum temperature 19C."

A plume of hot air predicted to arrive on Saturday may restore some of the recent summer temperatures in time for the coming weekend.

But the Met Office warns that "showery outbreaks of rain are expected during (Saturday) morning."

"Mainly dry and brightening up in (Saturday) afternoon with some warm sunshine. Cooler on the coast with northeasterly winds. Maximum temperature 20C," the Met Office added.

On Sunday, the weather is expected to be drier across the country, with many places set to see a mix of sun, rain and a chance of thunderstorms.

They added: "Bright with some warm sunshine and occasional showers through the coming days. The showers heavy and perhaps thundery at times. Patchy low cloud and mist around the Irish Sea coast."
