Northern Ireland weather forecast for the days ahead as Met Office predicts frost and 'hill snow'

It's not great news from the Met Office as the coming weekend is likely to be cold and frosty.

After a brilliant weekend for weather across Northern Ireland last week, a blinding sun and warm temperatures aren't dominating the forecast for the days ahead.

On Thursday night, temperatures will drop to the minus numbers, with frost to develop overnight.

The Met Office says: "Any showers should becoming largely confined to the north coast on Thursday evening to leave most places with a dry and clear night. With winds falling light a widespread frost develops. There will be minimum temperatures of -3C.

"Friday will have a frosty but largely sunny start but cloud will be increasing towards midday with outbreaks of rain and hill snow spreading south through the afternoon.

"Freshening northwesterly winds. Maximum temperatures of 9C."

On the Met Office's outlook for Saturday to Monday, they said there will be a mix of sunny spells and showers on Saturday with temperatures around 8C. Sunrise will be at 6.45am with the clock change allowing for brighter evenings with a sunset at 8.02pm on Saturday night.

It will be a "dry, chilly start" on Sunday but cloudier with a little rain in afternoon then a cloudy day Monday with occasional rain.
