Northern Ireland weather forecast for May Day bank holiday weekend a mixed bag

After a tremendous Friday in every way including the weather, forecasters have predicted a more mixed bag this May Day weekend.

According to Met Office a bright and dry start on Saturday morning will be followed by cloud and a few scattered showers in the afternoon.

And temperatures won't reach the levels they did last weekend.

The weather forecast for Saturday, May 1, predicts a mostly dry start with some brightness with cloud bubbling up from late morning.

A Met Office spokesperson said this will "move onwards to give a few showers this afternoon, although coastal areas mainly dry" and that it will be "still rather chilly".

As for Saturday night, they added: "Showers dying away this evening, some evening brightness. The rest of the night will be largely dry with clear periods. Slight frost where skies remain clear."

The maximum temperature for Saturday is 12 °C and we are expected to have a low of 2 °C on Saturday night. Sunrise was at 5.46am and will set again at 8.57pm.

Despite the predicted clouds it is advisable to apply sunscreen, especially for kids, as UV levels will reach medium. Pollution is to remain low and the pollen levels will be medium.

On Sunday it will be "a dry, bright start - then turning cloudier with scattered showers developing from late morning, these lingering into the afternoon. Drier by evening. Maximum temperature 11 °C".

As for Monday, they added that it will be a "dry start on Monday before widespread rain spreads east, turning drier later in the day".
