Northern Ireland weather forecast: 'Dry and sunny' weather this weekend but scattered showers possible

It is set to be a weekend of bright spells for Northern Ireland but the Met Office has warned people to expect the odd shower too.

Yesterday turned out to be one of the nicest days of the month so far, with average temperatures of 19C for many across the country.

It was a wet start to Friday, however, with further light rain and drizzle expected for most this evening and tonight.

Tomorrow (Saturday) is set to bring us highs of 18C, as the Met Office predicts 'a dry and sunny start to the day'.

The weather agency said: "Scattered showers developing from late morning on Saturday though these will not last long and many places will stay dry.

"Drier conditions may reach the far northwest later in the day.

"Sunday will bring sunny spells and scattered showers expected at times. Rather cool at night."

As for next week, the Met Office said: "Most areas will be mostly dry into the middle of next week, beyond which it is likely that the settled conditions will continue for many central and southern areas, bringing dry weather and sunny spells here."
