Northern Ireland weather forecast: Bad news as more rain could be heading our way

More rain and wind is heading for Northern Ireland throughout the week, the  Met Office has said.

It was a mixed weekend of weather with sunshine and rain and the unpredictable weather set to continue for the first part of the week at least.

After a wet and miserable start to Monday in most places, tomorrow will become drier for a time with more persistent and heavier rain reaching many places by the morning.

"Another cloudy day with further pulses of more persistent and heavier rain coming along during the day," the Met Office added.

However, warm and sunny spells are set to give Northern Ireland a break from the recent damp patch from Wednesday.

And for Thursday and Friday, the Met Office said: "A lot of dry, bright weather with sunny spells. There will be a few heavy showers on Thursday and Friday. A warm few days, even very warm in east.

"Most of the rain will be in the northwest where it may be rather cool.

"Drier and sometimes warm conditions are likely in the east and south with a chance of some longer fine, dry spells in early July."
