Northern Ireland weather forecast as temperatures set to plummet to -3

Northern Ireland is set to feel icy winds this weekend as temperatures plummet to below freezing .

According to the latest forecast from the Met Office , Friday night will be mainly dry with clear spells, although there will be a scattering of showers and mixed with lows of -3C, it will be icy.

A spokesperson said: "These [showers] dying back to the north coast overnight. A widespread frost developing with winds falling light. Minimum temperature -3C.

"[It will be] mainly dry and bright with sunny spells on Saturday, although the odd light shower possible at first around the north coast. A widespread frost early and later in the day with lows of -2C."

For the rest of the week it will be dry and bright on Sunday with a widespread frost at first.

It is to be mainly dry on Monday January 20, but winds strengthening with some rain later and mainly dry and bright on Tuesday.
