Northern Ireland weather forecast and it's not good news

The weather will remain dull and wet over the next couple of days with a chance of hail and thunder.

It is to become unsettled this afternoon through to Monday with only a few dry sunny spells to break up the clouds.

Unfortunately scattered heavy showers are expected this afternoon , with the chance of hail and thunder.

But temperatures will remain relatively high and there is a chance of some sunny spells, although a dull forecast will be more prominent.

Forecaster for the MET Office Steven Keates said: "If you have got plans for Saturday evening there will be some rain to watch out for, it is perhaps worth taking a brolly if you are out and about.

"There will be a cloudy start with some rain in the east, while western counties start mainly dry. Later brightening up with some sunshine, then scattered heavy showers breaking out from late morning with the chance of hail and thunder in the afternoon with a maximum temperature of 18C.

"Tonight there will be some heavy showers at first but these mostly dying out with some clear spells tonight. Light winds and chilly with a few mist or fog patches in early hours. Minimum temperature 4C.

"There will be a dry start tomorrow with some sunshine. Then cloud bubbling up to bring a scattering of showers these turning heavy with the chance of hail and thunder. Maximum temperature 17C.

"Sunshine and heavy showers on Monday with the chance of thunder. Then mainly dry and bright on Tuesday and a chance of rain on Wednesday."
