Northern Ireland weather boost as temperatures set to soar to 17C in May

The weather might be getting you down at the moment with rain and grey skies dominating, but there's a change coming...

Temperatures are set to soar to 17C next week, with the weather improving from this weekend.

There will be scattered showers across the country for the rest of today and on Thursday, but Friday is expected to be drier.

Nicky Maxey, a spokesperson for the Met Office, said: "At the weekend temperatures start to creep up and by Monday and Tuesday we are probably looking at 17C with plenty of sunshine from the start of next week.

"On Saturday there will be plenty of sunshine and Sunday will be a little but more cloudy with temperatures of 12/13C. The weather is certainly looking more settled as we go through next week."

She said the weather going into May and early June would be changeable but there would be more settled spells.

At the moment, it could be as hot as Cape Town next week - here's hoping.
