With an away trip to Germany and both games against the Netherlands to come, this may be Northern Ireland’s best opportunity to pick up some points, and as such Michael O’Neill could look to attack a German side that is struggling for form and an identity.
Expect Germany to be patient with the ball and Toni Kroos to be entrusted with finding the dangerous front three of Werner, Reus and Gnabry, all of whom are goal threats.
Northern Ireland may exploit Germany’s lack of protection for their defensive line with counter attacks, and it is inevitable that the likes of Kyle Lafferty and Josh Magennis will get at least one chance considering the visitors’ fragile defence.
