Northern Ireland Under-21s star Barry Baggley signs new three year deal with Fleetwood Town

Northern Ireland Under-21s star Barry Baggley has penned a new three year deal with Fleetwood Town.

The 20-year-old has played seven times for the League One club's first team with Stephen Crainey, Town's Development Squad Head Coach, saying he has "no doubts" on the young midfielders ability.

The new deal will see him remain with the Cod Army until the end of the 2023/24 season, with the club holding an option for another year.

Baggley has represent Northern Ireland Youth teams at numerous age groups, scoring for the Under-21s at the beginning of June against Scotland.

Speaking to the club website Stephen Crainey said: “Barry has great ability; I think he was really unfortunate with injuries last season, but I have no doubts with him. The pre-season games he played last season, especially against Blackburn, he was outstanding against their first team, and he showed what he could do.

“We’ve got real faith in Barry so hopefully he can stay injury-free, unlike last season when he picked up a few niggles and setbacks, but I’m sure he will be able to dust that off and kick on to show, again, what he’s all about this season.”

Baggley arrived at Fleetwood from Glentoran back in 2018.
