Northern Ireland Under 21s lose out to Scotland in Dumbarton

Northern Ireland Under 21s fell just short against Scotland in Saturday's friendly.

Andy Crosby's side twice came from behind before losing to Glenn Middleton's late penalty as the Scots claimed a 3-2 win at the C&G Systems Stadium in Dumbarton.

Tom Clayton put the hosts in front, scoring from a delivery from Josh McPake.

That was cancelled out by Ben Wylie's equaliser, the midfielder getting into the box before coolly slotting home.

Scotland reclaimed the lead when Ben Williamson scored before half-time but Ballymena United youngster Ryan Waide drew the sides level for a second time with a near post finish.

The decisive penalty was awarded when Hibernian winger Daniel MacKay was brought down inside the box.

And Middleton stepped up to convert from the spot.

It was some revenge for Scotland who lost 2-1 to Northern Ireland on Wednesday.
