Northern Ireland U21 and Wolves full-back Jack Scott eager to impress in League of Ireland

Northern Ireland U21 full-back Jack Scott is determined to hit the ground running after signing on loan with St Patrick’s Athletic ahead of the new League of Ireland campaign.

Scott, who has played for Wolves at U23 and U18 level and recently signed a new deal with the Premier League club, joined the Richmond Park club on Monday.

The versatile 19-year-old, who joined Wolves from Linfield in 2019, can play in a number of positions, but has featured predominantly at right-back.

“It’s good to be here and I’m looking forward to getting going,” said Scott, who played alongside new Saints teammate Darragh Burns with Northern Ireland U19s.

“I know Darragh - I played with him a few times - and also Joe (Redmond) who was at Birmingham City, so I know a few of the lads.

“I’m just looking to come here to get some first team action and show what I can do.”

St Pat’s, who finished runners-up to Shamrock Rovers last season, kick-off the new campaign with a trip to newly-promoted Shelbourne on February 18.

Three of their first four league games are Dublin derbies - they also face Bohs and Rovers on February 28 and March 4 - while a Presidents Cup game with Rovers lies in wait early next month.

“That’s what I’m here for,” said Scott. “I’m here to play in big games. The first run of games will be tough but hopefully we can get a good start to the season and kick on.”

Saints boss Tim Clancy said: "I'm delighted to get Jack in. Having just signed his new contract at Wolves, it's a great opportunity for him to come and play games.

“Jack comes highly recommended. He's an attacking full-back who loves to get forward and he trained very well in his first session.

“He is certainly someone we are looking forward to working with for the coming season."

Scott, who has trained with the Wolves first team squad, signed a new contract with the Molineux club until 2023 with the option of another year earlier this month.
