Northern Ireland traffic: PSNI at scene of serious crash in Ballyclare

Police currently remain at the scene of a serious car crash in Co Antrim.

The Ballylagan Road in Ballyclare, near Straid, is closed due to the collision on Monday morning.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Diversions in place and police are on scene. Please follow their direction."

There are no further details at this time.

Meanwhile, Translink will be operating on reduced timetables of essential services from Monday, they said.

It comes as Northern Ireland enters another period of lockdown in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus as infection rates soar.

Translink said the timetable changes  to its bus and rail services will be implemented from Monday, January 11, and full details of the new timetables are available on Translink’s website and journey planner.

Chris Conway, Group Chief Executive of Translink said: "We have played our part throughout this pandemic, maintaining public transport services at a level to enable NHS, other key workers and key vulnerable people to make essential journeys.

"These new ‘essential service’ timetables are based on our previous lockdown experiences.  They will ensure we protect the geographic coverage of the network with reduced frequency in line with what is currently needed given the latest lockdown restrictions, including closure of schools and more people staying at home."
