Northern Ireland traffic: Co Down road closed after serious crash

A Co Down road has been closed this morning after a serious collision.

The Blackstaff Road near Clough, has been closed in both directions, police say.

It is not yet known how long closures will last for but the PSNI says the one vehicle crash is "serious".

A spokesperson said: "Local diversions are in place. There are no further details at present."

Meanwhile, road users are being warned of upcoming work on the M2 which will result in road and lane closures.

Essential maintenance works on the M2 at Bellevue Bridge initially started on April 12.

The Department for Infrastructure has now announced a change to some of the dates of the overnight road and lane closures.

To facilitate the works it will be necessary to have a number of overnight road and lane closures, with all lanes open to traffic at weekends and from 6am to 11pm Monday to Friday.

There will be full closures in both directions between 11pm and 6am on the following dates:

  • Monday 28 June until Saturday 3 July
  • Monday 5 July until Saturday 10 July
  • Wednesday 14 July until Saturday 17 July
  • Monday 19 July until Saturday 24 July
  • Monday 26 July until Saturday 31 July
