Northern Ireland to play the Czech Republic in international friendly on October 14

Northern Ireland will take on the Czech Republic in an international friendly on Monday, October 14.

The Irish FA confirmed the news on Wednesday.

It will be the seventh time that the two nations have met but the first time that they have played in a challenge fixture.

It will come four days after Michael O'Neill's side take on the Netherlands in their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.

Northern Ireland beat the Czech Republic 2-0 at Windsor Park the last time the sides met thanks to goals from Jonny Evans and Chris Brunt.

The two also played out a goalless draw in the opening group C game of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

The Czech Republic are in group A of qualifying and suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat to England in their opening game. They host England on 11 October, three days before the game against Northern Ireland.

The venue for October's match has still to be confirmed by the Czech FA.
