Northern Ireland striker Kyle Lafferty leaves Italian Serie B club Reggina

Kyle Lafferty is a free agent after leaving Italian club Reggina.

It has been confirmed that the Northern Ireland striker has been released by the Serie B club after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract.

Former Rangers and Hearts hitman Lafferty joined Reggina in the summer following his departure from Sunderland.

During his second spell in Italy he scored one goal in nine league appearances.

A club statement read: “President Luca Gallo and Reggina announce that they have reached an agreement with the player Kyle Lafferty for the early consensual termination of the contract.

“Thanking Kyle for his professionalism, Reggina wishes him the best sporting fortunes.”

Lafferty’s first period in Italy was at Palermo, and he has also had spells with clubs including Sion, Norwich City, Sarpsborg 08 Caykur Rixespor.
