Northern Ireland striker David Parkhouse joins Hartlepool United on loan

Northern Ireland under 21 striker David Parkhouse has joined Hartlepool United on loan from Sheffield United.

The striker has signed an initial short-term deal with the National League side which will run until January 2021.

Last season Parkhouse went out on loan to League of Ireland side Derry City and EFL League Two outfit  Stevenage before the coronavirus pandemic curtailed the campaign.

During his time at the Candystripes Parkhouse scored 19 goals in 39 appearances and helped the Brandywell side qualify for Europe.

Parkhouse was also named in the PFA Ireland Premier Division team of the year.

Last Friday he was among the goals for Northern Ireland Under 21s as they beat Malta 2-0 in a Euro qualifier.

Pool manager Dave Challinor said: “We are delighted to get David in. It is somewhere on the pitch we have been looking to strengthen and he provides us just that.

"He is a goal scorer and an U21 international so I believe he can do very well in this league."

On signing at Victoria Park, Parkhouse added: "After seeing The Vic, I am even more excited than I ever was.

"This is a huge club and I want to come in, score goals and help the side as best I can."

Hartlepool United start their season on Saturday October 3 with a home game against Aldershot Town.
