Northern Ireland striker Conor Washington closing in on Charlton Athletic deal

Northern Ireland international Conor Washington is closing in on a two-year deal with Charlton Athletic.

The Hearts striker has been in talks with the League One side and news of a move could be confirmed later today.

The 28-year-old is believed to be keen on a return to England after Hearts were relegated from the Scottish Premiership last season.

The Daily Record reports that head coach Robbie Neilson has also allowed Washington to go because he is one of their higher earners.

Washington was a key signing last summer when Craig Levein convinced him to move from Sheffield United.

However, a hamstring injury stalled his career at Tynecastle, with the Scottish season also ending early because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
