Northern Ireland star Rachel Furness nominated for Player of the Month

Northern Ireland International Rachel Furness has been nominated for February's PFA Player of the Month.

Furness registered three goals for Liverpool including a stunner in a 3-2 defeat to Women's Super League champions Arsenal at Chester City's Deva Stadium.

She also netted two in the 4-2 loss away to West Ham United on January 23 at Rush Green Stadium.

Liverpool currently sit bottom of the league but performances have improved due to the arrival of the former Reading midfielder.

Since her arrival on Merseyside in January she has netted four goals in four games and has also registered an assist for the Reds.

She had played for Tottenham Hotspur on loan up until January in their debut Women's Super League season, playing nine league games scoring once in 1-0 win over her parent club.

Furness also featured for Northern Ireland in all three Pinatar Cup matches last week and scored her 26th International goal opening the scoring in the 2-1 defeat to Scotland.

Furness will go up against Chelsea duo Bethany England and Carly Telford, Manchester City's Lauren Hemp, West Ham's Martha Thomas and Brighton & Hove Albion's Aileen Whelan for the award.

Voting is now open and will close on Monday, March 16 at 8am PFA official website.
