Northern Ireland schools set to close for two weeks due to coronavirus spike

Schools across Northern Ireland are set to close for two weeks in efforts to slow down the transmission of coronavirus.

The Executive will issue a full statement on Wednesday morning, however it is understood that a four week circuit breaker has been agreed.

The fortnight of closure will include the half-term Halloween break.

Reports suggest the closure to take place from Monday October 19 until November 2 - at which time a review of the impact of closure will occur before further steps are put in place.

We'll have all the latest updates from the Executive today on our live blog here.
