Northern Ireland's temperature record broken third time in a week

Northern Ireland has experienced another swelteringly hot record breaking day of high temperature according to the Met Office.

Residents in Armagh were feeling the heat on Thursday (July 22) as the temperature soared to 31.4C at 3.20pm the hottest on record.

A whopping 31.2C was first recorded at Ballywatticock on Saturday followed by 31.3C at Castlederg, County Tyrone on Wednesday. (July 21)

The Met Office said: "For the second day in a row, and third time in a week, Northern Ireland recorded its highest ever temperature on Thursday."

The UK heatwave is expected to surge until Saturday when cooler temperatures and rainfall are expected in parts of the country.
