Northern Ireland midfielder Corry Evans ruled out of Euro 2020 play-off final

Northern Ireland will be without Corry Evans for Thursday's Euro play-off final.

Evans has withdrawn from Ian Baraclough's squad after picking up an injury in Blackburn's win over QPR on Saturday.

The midfielder was forced off after just five minutes at Ewood Park with a hamstring problem.

It is a big blow for Northern Ireland ahead of Thursday's crunch showdown with Slovakia at Windsor Park.

Evans, 30, has had a tough year of injuries, which started with a fractured skull and eye socket back in January.

He then fractured a toe after returning in June, and is now set for another spell on the sidelines.

“I think you can see that Corry has damaged his hamstring early on and that’s a loss from the squad,” said Rovers boss Tony Mowbray

“We’re going to get him scanned.

“I think he’s obviously upset because he had a massive game for Northern Ireland, but now he obviously can’t go because it doesn’t look a minor hamstring injury.”
