Northern Ireland Mental Health Arts Festival roles out virtual programme this week

Northern Ireland Mental Health Arts Festival begins this week, with a packed out programme showcasing some of the best artists that our region has to offer.

The festival, which was the first of its kind when it began back in 2013, is designed to highlight mental health by showcasing artists across the country who touch on the subject

As part of our # InThisTogether campaign, we want to shine a light on the work being done by local creatives, charities and businesses who are going above and beyond to reach out to people during lockdown.

The Mental Health Arts Festival normally takes place in venues throughout the North, but due to Coronavirus measures, it has rolled out a virtual schedule for the week ahead.

Events on offer include everything from visual arts and photography to poetry, music, comedy and film.

There are also a number of commissioned works from Northern Irish artists, which touch on the subject of mental health.

Ahead of the festival, organisers for NIMHAF said: "We are so excited to have been able to commission artists, comedians, performers, musicians and writers from Northern Ireland to make work for this very special festival.

"Each one of our commissioned works made by people with lived experience of having mental health issues."

Above you can also watch 'Two', the new music video from Belfast artist Fears, which was commissioned for the Mental Health Arts Festival and was released today.
