Northern Ireland man extradited from Spain over alleged historic child sex offences

A man has been extradited from Spain in relation to a number of alleged child sex offences.

Police say the reported incidents date back to the 1980s.

The 65-year-old was returned to Northern Ireland yesterday on the foot of a European arrest warrant.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "A 65-year-old man was extradited from Spain to Northern Ireland yesterday (Friday, 4 September).

"The man was arrested in Spain by virtue of a European Arrest Warrant sought by the Police Service of Northern Ireland in relation to a number of historical sexual offences against a child, dating back to the 1980s."

They added that he is due before Belfast Magistrates Court today.
