Northern Ireland football supporters team up to help young fan in Australia

Northern Ireland football fans have teamed up to help a young supporter undergoing cancer treatment in Australia.

Little Emily Houston, 4, has a rare form of leukaemia called B-cell acute lymphoblastic.

Emily's family have relocated to Perth to receive specialist treatment at Perth Children's Hospital, and are expecting to stay there for the remainder of 2021 with further visits for some time after that.

Before emigrating to Australia, Emily's mother Andrea was a member of City of Belfast NISC, one of the clubs affiliated to the Amalgamation of Official Northern Ireland Supporters Clubs.

Family and friends in Northern Ireland and Australia are doing their bit for young Emily's fundraising.

AONISC chairman Gary McAllister said the Amalgamation had responded to a request from City of Belfast NISC to support the family in any way.

"Our City of Belfast club have a longstanding record of charitable fundraising and have always been very pro-active in their support for a wide range of good causes," Gary said.

"So they're very willing to help Emily and her family as she receives treatment in Australia.

"We appreciate that people are facing challenging times so we're asking for people to donate even a pound.

"All those who donate through the AONISC will be entered into a draw to win a framed photo of the Northern Ireland team which faced Italy in Rome in the 1958 World Cup qualifying campaign."
