Northern Ireland football fans remember supporters who died at 2016 Euros

The Amalgamation of Official Northern Ireland Supporters Club has been remembering two fans who died at the Euro finals in France five years ago

Darren Rodgers, 24, died in a tragic fall Nice, just hours after watching Northern Ireland play Poland in their opening group game on June 12, 2016

Robert 'Archie' Rainey, 64, died suddenly during the historic victory over Ukraine four days later.

As the delayed 2020 finals got underway this weekend, the Amalgamation paid its own tribute to the two men.

In a statement posted on Twitter, it said: "Today we remember two fellow 'GAWA' members.

"During Euro 2016, Darren Rodgers lost his life after the Poland game in Nice. Robert 'Archie' Rainey died suddenly during the Ukraine game at Lyon.

"If you're enjoying the football this weekend, raise your glass to remember the lads."

A minute's silence was also held before a NI Fans game against Bryansburn Rangers on Saturday.
