Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attends 90 incidents on Halloween

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) has attended 90 incidents on Halloween.

44 incidents were attended from 6pm on October 31st to 1am on November 1, and 90 within the 24 hour period on October 31st, from 12am to 12am.

In 2020, the service attended 100 incidents on October 31, 87 incidents in 2019 and 127 in 2018.

They say the situation remained "relatively steady" this year.

A NIFRS spokesperson said: “Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service has been responding to calls associated with Halloween celebrations with the situation remaining relatively steady.

“From 6pm on 31 October 2021 – 1am on 1 November 2021 NIFRS Regional Control Centre received 68 emergency calls and Fire Crews have responded to 44 operational incidents. This equates to a 26% decrease for the same period 2020. 14 of these incidents were bonfires.

“NIFRS experienced activity due to Halloween celebrations on Saturday night too- receiving 60 emergency calls and responding to 51 operational incidents."
