Northern Ireland Euro 2020 playoff concerns after coronavirus update

Question marks continued to surround Northern Ireland's Euro 2020 playoff against Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

The semi-final game is scheduled for March 26 at the Stadion Bilino Polje in Zenica.

It has now been reported that the first cases of coronavirus have been detected in Bosnia.

On Thursday, Bosnian Health Minister Alen Seranic announced that two people - a father and son - have tested positive for Covid-19.

The man, who had been working in Italy, is understood to be in hospital in Banja Luka which is over 100km from Zenica.

The BIH Football Association has organised an emergency meeting on Friday to discuss the options for the Euro 2020 playoff and its domestic game.

Bosnian journalist Haris Mrkonja - who works for TV N1 Sarajevo - tweeted an update to Northern Ireland football supporters.

He said on his Twitter account: "To all #Nir fans. First cases of #COVIDー19 confirmed in #Bosnia this morning.

"Bosnian FA are sticking to #UEFA and Bosnian authorities' recommendations. No action for now.

"Tomorrow the situation will be discussed further, along with possible scenarios for #BiHNir #NationsLeague ."

Belfast Live Sport understands the Irish FA is currently taking advice from UEFA and relevant health bodies.
