Northern Ireland defender Lee Hodson signs two-year deal with Gillingham

Lee Hodson won’t be returning to St Mirren next season after signing a two-year deal with Gillingham.

The Northern Ireland defender spent last season on loan in Paisley, and with his contract at Rangers expiring this summer it was hoped he would return for 2019-20.

But now it has been announced that the 27-year-old will join EFL League One outfit Gillingham.

“I’m looking forward to getting started; it’s a club that has ambitions and I want to be a part of it,” Hodson told the club’s official website.

“It’s a nice family club; I’m delighted to be here and I can’t wait to meet the lads and get started.”

Hodson - capped 24 times by Northern Ireland -signed for Rangers in 2016 after a brief loan spell with Kilmarnock, going on to make 27 appearances.

Last season he made 23 appearances for St Mirren.
