Northern Ireland defender Lee Hodson placed into self-isolation

Northern Ireland defender Lee Hodson has been ruled out of action for two weeks after being placed into self-isolatation.

Hodson has had to self-isolate after coming into contact with a player from another club who tested positive for Covid-19.

The 28-year-old, who is on-loan from Gillingham, tested negative himself for the virus, but will have to adhere to Scottish government guidelines and self-isolate for the next fortnight.

Hodson has been staying at home since Tuesday (September 8).

Hamilton manager Brian Rice said: “Unfortunately Lee has been in contact with someone who has tested positive, so the rules are that he needs to self-isolate for 14 days.

“It’s just unfortunate but it’s the world we live in at the moment. It won’t be the first time and it won’t be the last time this happens in the coming months.

“He was in on Monday morning and he has had a negative test, but with the track and trace system it has been flagged up so he has to isolate.

“The rest of the players have been tested and it’s come back negative so we hope it’s an isolated case for us."

He added: “It’s very frustrating and difficult to deal with because we don’t know everything.

"It’s a grey area for me and a bit strange that somebody who has tested positive gets a 10 day isolation period whereas somebody who hasn’t got it gets 14 days.

"You've got the team in your head and then something out with the football changes the circumstances."
