Northern Ireland Covid statistics show increase in number of people in ICU

The number of people in intensive care due to Covid has increased from ten to 16, latest figures show.

The Department of Health website Coronavirus statistics, that were updated late on Friday night, show that 163 people are in hospital with a Covid related condition - an increase of one.

The ‘ICU Total’ stat read ‘16 +6’.

Also today, the Department’s Twitter account updated with the number of people who have tested positive for the virus.

A further 1,520 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Northern Ireland, the Department of Health said.

One further death of a patient who had previously tested positive for the virus has also been notified, bringing to 2,167 the number of people who have died according to the Department.

On Friday, it was reported that four deaths linked to Covid-19 had occurred in Northern Ireland in the latest week to be analysed by statisticians.

The fatalities in the week July 10 to July 16 took the total number of coronavirus-related deaths recorded by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (Nisra) to 2,991. The previous week saw three deaths while there were two the week before that.

In total, 2,200,125 vaccines have been administered.
