Northern Ireland coronavirus restrictions will end on November 13, says Arlene Foster

First Minister Arlene Foster has said that Northern Ireland’s coronavirus restrictions will end as planned.

The DUP leader took to Twitter ahead of an announcement from Prime Minister Boris Johnson over a lockdown in England.

Johnson has announced a lockdown until December 2, with pubs, restaurants and non-essential shops forced to close.

The restrictions in England will last a month and they come around two weeks after measures were introduced in Northern Ireland.

However, Mrs Foster sought to reassure the public that this does not mean an extension to Northern Ireland’s rules.

Schools here are to reopen on Monday, November 2, while the likes of pubs, restaurants and close-contact services which have been closed, are expected to reopen on November 13, as had been the original plan.

Mrs Foster said on Twitter: “Had a useful call with @michaelgove and the other DAs.

“NI schools will reopen on Monday and our current restrictions will end on 13 November as planned.

“We must adapt to coexist with the virus.”

She added that it means “increasing hospital and testing capacity.”
