Northern Ireland coronavirus figures show first person under 19 has died after testing positive for Covid-19

Figures released on Wednesday show one person aged 0-19 has died in Northern Ireland after testing positive for coronavirus.

The Department of Health's dashboard update on Wednesday reported nine further Covid-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours.

The death toll now stands at 680, according to these figures.

And of these nine reported deaths, five of which were patients aged 60-79, three patients aged 80+ and one under the age of 19 - the DoH report the individuals to have been five males and four females.

All nine deaths occurred within hospital settings, data indicates.

Wednesday's dashboard update also reported a daily rise in positive cases of the virus by 840.

In the last seven days, a total of 6,255 individuals tested positive for coronavirus in Northern Ireland.

A total of 36,394 individuals have tested positive for the virus since the beginning of the pandemic.

There are 352 coronavirus inpatients across 20 hospital sites in Northern Ireland, as of Tuesday morning.
