Northern Ireland Coronavirus cases fall to lowest daily figure in months

The Department of Health reported no further coronavirus related deaths on Monday.

According to the latest dashboard update, the death toll in Northern Ireland stands at 2,111.

Monday's daily update also outlines a further 65 positive cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the lowest daily figure recorded in months, bringing the total number of positive cases to 117,015 since the pandemic began.

In the past seven days, the Department says 1,016 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland.

There are currently 17 patients with coronavirus in ICU in Northern Ireland, according to the Department's figures.

Meanwhile, on Monday morning one of Northern Ireland's largest live events arenas has opened as a mass vaccination centre.

The SSE Arena in Belfast will have the capacity to administer jabs to 40,000 people a week.

A slowdown in the UK's vaccine supply lines will see the centre processing around 11,000 people a week initially, with the numbers ramping up as more AstraZeneca jabs become available.

The arena floor has the capacity for 60 separate vaccination stations.  It is operating as a mass vaccination site for the whole of Northern Ireland.
