Northern Ireland boss Ian Baraclough sends message to Green and White Army

New Northern Ireland manager Ian Baraclough has sent a special message to the Green and White Army following Friday's draw in Bucharest.

Gavin Whyte's 86th-minute header earned a spirited 1-1 draw against Romania in the Nations League.

Unfortunately no fans were allowed to attend the game at the Arena Nationala due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions.

Despite the lack of atmosphere, Baraclough thanked the Green and White Army for cheering on the team from back home.

“To the guys back at home. I hope you enjoyed the game and I hope you enjoyed the fightback from the lads," he told the IFA.

"The boys put in an immense shift for the Green and White Army and made me a very, very proud man."

Baraclough added: “I know you were backing the lads from back home. To those who have sent me goodwill messages I want to say thank you very much.

"Hopefully we can kick on from here and get another positive result against Norway.”

Northern Ireland 's next assignment is Monday night's Nations League clash against Norway at Windsor Park.

The game will once again be played behind closed doors.
