Northern Ireland: 10 more test positive for Covid-19 in past 24 hours

There have been ten further positive tests for the coronavirus in Northern Ireland in the past 24 hours.

Department of Health statistics show that there have been no further deaths from Covid-19, with 556 people passing away from the virus.

There have now been 5, 948 positive test across Northern Ireland, with 60 of these been diagnosed in the past seven days.

The Newry, Mourne and Down area has seen the largest spike in new cases in the past week, with 25.

This is followed by the Mid and East Antrim area where there has been 11.

Belfast has seen the largest number of positive cases with 1,429 people contracting the virus. Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon has had the second highest amount with 761.

The area with the least amount of positive tests is Fermangh and Omagh.

333 people have passed away from Covid-19 in a hospital setting, 187 in care or residential homes, 21 have taken place in the community and 15 have not been recorded.

There are currently three hospital inpatients who are positive for the virus and two patients are being treated in intensive care.

One patients is on a ventilator as they are being treated for Covid-19.

1,500 people have been discharged from hospital after contracting the virus.

To date, there have been 142,279 individuals tested for the virus.
