Northern dad 'needs therapy' after being charged £54 for fish and chips in London

A Yorkshire dad was left gobsmacked after buying ordered to pay £54 for fish and chips.

London-based vicar Gareth Jones tweeted that his dad, who lives in Yorkshire, was left incredulous by the cost of the meal.

Mr Jones said his dad had wanted to buy four fish and chips - with mushy peas - but couldn't believe his ears when he heard he'd have to pay over £50 for the privilege, YorkshireLive reports.

Mr Jones posted: "Dad wanted to buy fish and chips last night. We let him and he gave me his card to pay for them delivered.

"He’s now trying to access therapy as he’s realised 4 rounds of fish, chips and mushy peas cost him £54.

"Welcome to London, Yorkshireman."

Seeing the funny side, Gareth has now updated his followers on his dad's "recovery" after his post amassed hundreds of comments, with other proud Yorkshire folk sharing their tales of overpriced chippies.

Gareth tweeted: "Dad is slowly recovering, helped by some red wine and reassuring words.

"He's tickled that this post generated so much fun.

"Here he is looking much more content and very good for 83!

"He made it into the Yorkshire Examiner today!"

Gareth's dad was seen looking much happier than he was previously as he enjoyed a glass of red wine.
