Northbound M32 closure tonight for safety works

Motorists have been warned to expect delays as highways bosses close part of the M32 this evening (Wednesday).

The main route in and out of Bristol will be shut from 8pm until 6am tomorrow (June 4)

A spokesperson for Highways England said northbound of the M32 between J3 (St Paul's) to J2 (Eastville) will be closed to allow for safety barrier works to take place.

Drivers will be diverted via the A38 and Muller Road.

Issues with the motorway's metal central reservation safety barrier were discovered in 2017 when a 40mph limit was imposed.

Highways bosses identified 'significant corrosion and declared the road unsafe for traffic travelling at 60mph'.

Concrete barriers were finished in 2018 but works on the road's 'parapets and other elements of the flyover' were due to be completed this year.
