The campaign launched in June by the Northampton Chronicle & Echo to revive the town's landmark Racecourse park has achieved a string of successes, and won widespread praise for the paper's initiative. There has been an intensive police operation to crack down on crime and the creation of a new board to oversee rejuvenation, backed unanimously by the borough council. Chris Savage, chairman of the Friends of the Northampton Racecourse, said: "Overall, things are definitely getting better... I think the Chron should be lauded for getting behind a positive campaign rather than focusing on the negative". (Via )
