North Yorkshire farm secures six-figure funding to grow hot tub holiday pods business

A working beef and arable farm in North Yorkshire is diversifying by launching two new holiday pods complete with private hot tubs and skylights.

Cliff Farm near Pickering has secured a six-figure funding package from HSBC UK to grow its holiday lets business Shire Stays with two pods built into the ground which can sleep between two-six guests at a time.

The pods - which come with bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, kitchens and king-size beds - have been built on the 150-acre farm in a bid to provide alternative revenue streams.

Rob Scalding, managing director at Shire Stays, which expects a 35% turnover increase in the next 12 months, said: “The development of these holiday lets at Cliff Farm will provide a diversified income steam for us, whilst allowing customers to have direct access to the North Yorkshire Moors.

"We’ve already had some fantastic feedback from our guest and there has been a demand from across the UK. We look forward to welcoming more guests onto our farm in months to come.”

Simon Harget, agriculture relationship manager at HSBC UK, added : “We’re delighted to have supported Cliff Farm with the diversification of its business, providing high quality holiday lets for customers. The funding with allow Cliff Farm to continue building its business and create a sustainable future.”

Cliff Farm produces sustainable beef and has the capacity to cater for 120 cows each year.
