North Wales faces 'significant hurdles' says new CBI chief who is 'not afraid of the challenge'

CBI Wales has announced the appointment of Kinza Sutton as Chair of the CBI North Wales council with her promising to help overcome “significant hurdles”.

An active CBI member for more than two years, Kinza is currently Head of Public Affairs and Sustainability at Plastipak’s European headquarters in Wrexham.

Born and raised in North Wales, Kinza previously worked at BICC and GPT/Marconi, focussing on business-to-business marketing and sustainability issues.

Ms Sutton also plays a leading role in cross-industry groups focused on packaging industry reform and the development of the UK recycling industry.

Kinza Sutton is Chair of the CBI North Wales council (CBI)

CBI North Wales Chair, CBI Wales Director Ian Price said: “I couldn’t be more pleased to have Kinza on board as Chair of CBI North Wales. In business and in her community work, Kinza’s huge passion for North Wales shines through.

“From my experience, there’s no-one more committed to showing what a great place North Wales is to live, work and do business. Kinza brings energy, expertise and is exceptionally well connected across the local business community.”

He added: “While Kinza will be a huge asset for the CBI, we’re obviously incredibly sad to be saying a fond farewell to David Jones. An outstanding Chair of CBI North Wales, David will be a hard act to follow and I just want to thank him for his tireless efforts to raise the profile businesses in North Wales.”

Ms Sutton said: “I’m a passionate advocate of the North Wales region and believe it has real strengths which can bring value and a superb return for those looking to invest in the area. As a North Wales business leader, I’m certainly not afraid of a challenge.

“We know we have significant hurdles to overcome, from transport and digital infrastructure that isn’t up to scratch, to businesses still being unable to access the people and skills they need to succeed.

"By better showcasing the ambitious and innovative business we have in North Wales, and through sustained partnership with government, I know we can deliver the step-changes we need.”
