North Wales firm with a 70 year history snapped up by a US company

A North Wales based firm with a 70 year history has been snapped up by a US company.

Elmac Technologies was established in 1948 and is based in Holywell. It is a market leader in the design, manufacture and supply of process-critical safety products.

Now The Protectoseal Company, an industry-leading manufacturer of high-quality safety and flame control products, has acquired ths business as part of the US firm’s international growth plans.

However the Elmac brand will live on as they continue to operate under their respective names and the Welsh site and jobs are secure.

Chuck Hall, president at Protectoseal, said: “Elmac fits perfectly with our growth strategy of pushing further into the high-quality safety and flame control products market. This acquisition will further diversify our portfolio and strengthen our position as a leading supplier of quality safety products. There are customer and technical collaborations that will benefit both businesses as we look to deliver on the safety requirements of our growing customer base.”

Lew Bingham, MD of Elmac, said: “The agreement further strengthens our product portfolio and marks the next step in the delivery of the ambitious growth plans we have for the business. There are obvious operational synergies between the businesses and we are excited by the opportunity to extend our range and reach into new markets.”

Through the acquisition the combined organisation will benefit from access to a market-leading range of patent-protected Flame Arresters and FAB ValvesTM. The acquisition will also shorten lead times through access to a broader network of establish global suppliers and a combined Business and Technology development teams that now have testing capabilities across the full line-up of its products.
