North Tyneside's Activ Technology snapped up by tech group Babble

North Tyneside based Activ Technology is set for growth after being snapped up by leading tech group Babble.

The remote working services provider, based at Balliol Business Park, has been acquired by private equity-backed Babble as part of its ‘buy and build’ strategy.

Babble, a unified comms, contact centre and cyber solutions provider, said the deal follows robust organic growth over the last year.

It is Babble's second acquisition following investment by Graphite Capital at the end of 2020, and the sixth and largest that Babble has undertaken in the last 12 months, expanding the technology company’s national presence.

The value of the deal has not been disclosed.

Ian Gillespie, managing director of Activ, said: “Joining Babble is an exciting step for Activ. They’re incredibly ambitious, and will continue to provide the best technology and expertise to our customers across the UK.”

Matt Parker, chief executive of Babble, said: “We are delighted to have completed the purchase of Activ, which marks a fantastic opportunity for us. The people and talent within Activ will allow us to better achieve our ambitions.

“This year we expect to complete more acquisitions as we continue to seek innovative businesses that think the same way as us, in order to both grow the capabilities we can provide to our customers and fill our business with the best people in the industry.”

Activ Technology initially started out in 2010 focusing on mobile communications.

Activ now provides managed IT and telephony services to SME and education partners, supporting their IT, mobile and telecom infrastructures and it provides the day-to-day support needed to run their businesses.

Babble, meanwhile, works with more than 2,000 organisations in sectors including financial, health and education, travel and accommodation, and public services.
