North Tyneside music lovers ask wedding guests to wear t-shirts featuring favourite bands in unique rock wedding

Most weddings see guests in dresses and suits, with the bride wearing white - but one couple with a love of rock music have had a wedding with a twist.

Music lovers Michelle Milner, 37, and her now husband Charlie Richardson, 48, asked guests to wear t-shirts featuring their favourite bands, while the bride donned black.

The North Shields pair both share a passion for rock music and thought it was the perfect way to celebrate their special day on April 1.

Michelle said: "We are really into rock music so we asked people to come wearing a band t-shirt and everyone is really excited about it.

"A lot of our friends have gone and bought t-shirts of bands they were into at the time but didn't get t-shirts then.

"Charlie's 80 year old mum is wearing a t-shirt of classical composer George Handel.

"There was going to be Ozzie Osborne as well, everyone is quite relaxed about it and we were really looking forward to seeing a real mix.

"Charlie wore a Motley Crew t-shirt and has a jacket that has been jazzed up with safety pins."

Michelle wore a black Victorian gothic wedding dress, with a personalised bouquet she made herself along with the button holes for the men.

She said: "I made them myself and they have the logos of different rock bands on them and the bouquet has music sheets with the lyrics to 'I was made for loving you' by KISS."

Charlie proposed to Michelle while they were on holiday in San Francisco.

She added: "We were on a big holiday for Christmas and were just walking down the beach when he got down, I didn't know what he was doing and thought he'd fallen over."

The couple married at North Shields Registrar on April 1 - a date with special meaning to them.

Michelle said: "We met on that day six years ago at Trillians Rock Bar in town when we were at a gig."

For the after party wedding revellers headed to the Basement Bar for drinks and to party the night away.

"It is somewhere we go quite often and know everyone there so thought it would be the perfect place," she said. "We have friends who are going to be playing music as well."
