Winless North Melbourne will need to isolate at home for 14 days apart from training and playing after returning from their round-six AFL game in Perth.
The Kangaroos went down to Fremantle by 51 points in an empty Optus Stadium on Saturday night, after the Western Australian government put its capital city into a snap three-day lockdown.
Perth and the Peel region entered a 72-hour hard lockdown from Friday midnight after a man contracted COVID-19 while staying at one of WA's quarantine hotels.
The AFL on Sunday confirmed the Kangaroos had arrived back in Melbourne and been given exemptions so the season could continue as planned.
"The club's travelling party was COVID-19 tested on arrival at the club and will isolate in their homes for 14 days in-line with current Victorian state government directions relating to arrivals from a red zone," an AFL statement read.
"The North Melbourne travelling party has been granted an exemption to leave their homes.
"All training sessions will be closed to the general public, with media (obligations) to be completed remotely via video conference for the 14-day period."
The Kangaroos are due to host undefeated Melbourne in Hobart next Sunday, but that will depend on health advice from the Tasmania government.
Marvel Stadium is free on the same day so the match could be moved to Docklands if North Melbourne are not allowed to enter Tasmania.
